Prior to June 2009, biologically implausible values (BIVs) were
included in the Weight-for-Age table. The table has now been updated
and implausible values of height, weight or BMI were excluded from the
results, using World Health Organization fixed exclusion ranges.
The SAS code for calculating Weight-for-Age categories was obtained
from the National Center for Health Statistic's website entitled, "2000
CDC Growth Charts: United States" (www.cdc.gov/growthcharts). The
calculations use the 2000 CDC growth charts, by AGE and SEX, as the
standard for assessing Weight-for-Age categories.
^Use caution in interpreting cell sizes
less than 50. N = numerator, % = Percentage, C.I.(95%) = Confidence
Interval (at 95 percent probability level).
Percentages are weighted to population characteristics and therefore
cannot be calculated exactly from the numbers in this table.
