Back to Weight/Height.

*Includes only children ages 10 and older.
BMI categories: <5% = Underweight, 5-84% = Recommended Range, 85-94% = Overweight, >/=95% = Obese.
The SAS code for calculating BMI categories was obtained from the National Center for Health Statistics' website entitled, "2000 CDC Growth Charts: United States" (www.cdc.gov/growthcharts). The calculations use the 2000 CDC growth charts, by AGE and SEX, as the standard for assessing BMI status. Implausible values of height, weight or BMI were excluded from the results, using World Health Organization fixed exclusion ranges.

^Use caution in interpreting cell sizes less than 50. N = numerator, % = Percentage, C.I.(95%) = Confidence Interval (at 95 percent probability level).
Percentages are weighted to population characteristics and therefore cannot be calculated exactly from the numbers in this table.
